Additional Bodum New Kenya 12-Ounce Coffee Press, Black Information
|
The French press coffee maker is accepted worldwide as one of the best methods for brewing coffee and our New Kenya coffee press is sure to deliver not only gourmet coffee flavor, but modern design. The durable and heat-resistant glass beaker is partially encased by the black plastic frame of the New Kenya coffee maker. The frame covers a part of the sides and bottom of the beaker, making it safe for the tabletop without using a trivet or coaster. Simple to use, the French press is a proven method for brewing flavorful and balance coffee. Coffee is measured in 4 oz. cups, so our 3-cup press will brew 12 oz.; a single serving. The small size makes it great for the home or office, anytime you want just one cup of coffee. For best results, use coarse ground coffee. Just add the appropriate amount of ground coffee to the beaker (we recommend one 7 gram scoop per 4 oz. of water). Fill the beaker with hot water (just off of a boil). Leave about an inch from the top of the beaker. Give the coffee a stir with a plastic or wooden utensil to mix it completely with the water. Set the plunger and lid unit in place with the safety lid in the closed position. Allow the coffee to brew for 4-minutes and then press. Turn the safety lid to the open position, serve and enjoy. Clean up is easy too – just scoop out the grounds with a rubber spatula, and rinse the beaker and filter. There is no paper or additional filter required. The 3-part stainless steel filter system is built right into the press. The stay cool handle is built right into the sturdy New Kenya frame. All parts are dishwasher safe. The New Kenya is also available in 4, 6, and 8 cup sizes.

What Customers Say About Bodum New Kenya 12-Ounce Coffee Press, Black:

It must be noted that this french press is very small, gives you a little less than a full mug of coffee. The glass vessel is virtually impossible to remove for cleaning purposes, so I clean it together for fear of breaking the glass. That said, it is a very reliable french press and I've had it now for over a year.
This is an engineering issue, not a fine vs. The screen in the plunger develops tiny warps and buckles around its edge. The coffee grounds can slip through and end up floating on top of your drink. coarse grind problem. Occasionally I have to filter my coffee a second time through a paper filter before drinking.
In the long run you get what you pay for. Bodum is by far the best product and does the job much more effectively as a coffee press. It leaves behind the coffee grains and one gets the coffee pure and delicious.
The quality of the coffee made is great and the filter press is easy to clean. The Bodum Kenya 12 oz. French Press coffee maker is a nice little coffee maker that makes just enough for one mug of coffee - which is exactly what I wanted. The only problem I have with this particular model is that the glass beaker insert tends to stick in the plastic holder and is difficult to remove for cleaning - and it needs to be removed for each cleaning. If it were not for this minor problem, I would rate it 5 stars.
This is a pretty basic device and it is hard to imagine that a company blew it. The glass beaker is not a perfect cylinder, but flares a bit wider at the top. But, I'm not sure that this French Press is much better than just mixing your coffee and water in a mug and waiting for the coffee to settle to the bottom. The mesh disk on the plunger (that exists to push down the ground coffee) was designed to fit the narrower bottom of the beaker; it is a smaller diameter than the interior of the glass beaker at the top. Thus, as you being to plunge the brewed coffee, grinds squirt around the outside of the mesh disk, rendering it ineffective. I am disappointed and would recommend against buying this product. I suspect that the glass beaker is universal across all Bodum 12oz presses, so I would be hesitant to buy any.
